Cross Country Recruitment Deck
Graphic Design / Publication Design
I collaborated with Elon University's Women's Cross Country Team coaching staff to address their need for a more direct and efficient way to inform prospective athletes about their program and the university's offerings. The solution was the creation of an informational magazine designed to captivate and inform potential recruits.

What's the Problem?
The team was experiencing a shortage of prospective athletes and needed a compelling tool to attract more interest. The coaching staff sought a streamlined, visually appealing method to communicate the team's achievements, academic opportunities, coaching excellence, and overall program growth to prospective athletes.

Solution
In hopes of leveraging the magazine as a persuasive tool, I designed a digital recruitment magazine that effectively showcases the strengths of the team. Several key steps being:

In the beginning phases of the project, I leveraged communication skills to engage in clear and consistent conversation with the coaching staff, ensuring their vision and needs were fully understood. Through this, I was able to gather a comprehensive understanding of the team's history, achievements, and the broader offerings of Elon University.

The design development phase involved determining the most impactful design elements, with visual cohesion and readability being at the forefront.
Some of the key design elements include:
-
Incorporation of a background image of Elon's campus on each page (excluding the Study Abroad page) with a softened white overlay to enhance text readability.
-
For headings, GOBOLD UPLOW was selected to create a bold and professional look, while Source Sans Pro was used for subheadings and paragraph text to ensure clarity and legibility.
-
Employing a color scheme that aligns with Elon's branding, using maroon (#73000A) and gold (#B59A57) to reinforce the university's identity.

Outcome
Professional mockups of the recruitment magazine were created to showcase its dynamic appearance and functionality. Although the coaches did not have time to formally print the magazine, they distributed both a PDF and interactive digital version to prospective athletes and their families, providing an interactive and accessible way to explore the program.

Tackling the challenge of modernizing the Cross Country team's recruitment methods was truly a rewarding experience. The coaching staff found this to be an extremely beneficial tool and have found it significantly enhancing their recruitment efforts, attracting a new cohort of talented athletes.
