ArtSpark

Graphic Design / User Interface Design

Designing ArtSpark was all about finding the perfect balance between creativity and strategy. This page offers a deeper look into my process - from early concept development to the final polished product. Through research, sketches, and wireframes, you'll see how I crafted the brand's identity, designed user-friendly interfaces, and developed promotional materials that capture ArtSpark's mission.

Brand Philosophy

At ArtSpark, we believe in the power art holds in igniting curiosity, fostering creativity, and inspiring holistic, lifelong learning. We are committed to empowering educators with innovative tools and a supportive community to revolutionize primary school education worldwide. Together, we strive to create vibrant learning environments where every student has the opportunity to explore, create, and thrive.

Project Genesis

To ensure ArtSpark would effectively meet the needs of its users, I created a persona named Melanie Porter. Melanie is a 28-year-old second-grade teacher who is passionate about integrating art into her classroom to enhance her students' learning experiences.

Her dedication to the power of art in education drives her to seek out valuable resources and tools, making her the ideal user for ArtSpark.

Brand Mood Board

The mood board for ArtSpark captures the essence of our vibrant, playful brand identity. Featuring of our brand's color palette, I aimed to embody the spirit of ArtSpark through specific font choices. I explored various Sans Serif fonts with 'curly' attributes that balance playfulness and readability. Additionally, I included imagery of children engaging in fingerpainting and arts and crafts to inspire the brand's visual storytelling.

Sketches

Drawing inspiration form children's books, my own childhood artwork, and the organic shapes of fingerpainting, I explored loose, expressive forms in my sketches. This approach helped shape a logo that feels both imaginative and nostalgic.

Logo Analysis

Primary Logo

The ArtSpark logo is thoughtfully designed to resonate with the app's purpose and audience. The characters in the "a" of both "Art" and "Spark" are designed to resemble fingerprints, reminiscent of fingerpainting - a nod to the hands-on, creative experiences we aim to promote.

The backward "t" introduces a playful, childlike element, keep their children at the forefront of their mind when accessing the app.

Using a "spark" in lieu of a normal ellipse in the middle of the "p" serves as both a visual spark and reinforcer of  the idea that we as a company hope to ignite art back into classroom environments.

The font used is 'Kiddosy,' a wide-body sans serif font with points at the ends of the letters, giving it a marker-like, youthful feel.

Poster Advertisements

To promote ArtSpark, I designed a series of poster ads aimed at capturing the attention of educators and school administrators. These ads highlight the app's key features and benefits, emphasizing its role in transforming the minds of our youths through art. The vibrant and engaging designs reflect the creative spirit of ArtSpark.

Working on ArtSpark has truly been a fruitful learning experience that introduced me into the world of User Interface Design. Throughout this project, I found myself knee deep in the intricacies of UI processes and stayed current with User Experience principles. Graphically building a company from scratch presented its own set of challenges, but it has been incredibly rewarding to see ArtSpark come to life from concept to completion. Perhaps one day, you'll find yourself downloading ArtSpark - only time will tell!
