Every design project is an opportunity to tell a unique story, and with 1TimeThrows, that story was all about strength, focus, and empowerment. As a former collegiate thrower, this project was especially meaningful to me. I worked with 1TimeThrows, a coaching business for shot put and discus athletes, to create a bold brand identity and website that speaks to athletes of all levels. It was both a fun and rewarding process to design a visual identity that resonates with the throwing community and captures the energy of the sport.

Brand Philosophy

Mood Board

The mood board for 1TimeThrows is all about energy, movement, and the competitive spirit of throwing. Bold, slanted typography conveys speed and momentum, while the electric color palette—blues, greens, and yellows—amps up the intensity. The photography highlights the essence of the sport, from the throwing ring to the athletes and equipment, bringing the track meet atmosphere to life. It’s a visual representation of the brand’s mindset: seizing the moment and giving it everything you’ve got.



Sketches
The sketches for 1TimeThrows focused on exploring bold, slanted typography and dynamic shapes to capture movement and intensity. These early iterations set the foundation for a strong and impactful brand identity.







Ideation
The logo development process began with exploring different structural and stylistic variations in Illustrator. I experimented with slanting and unslanting the typography while also testing different ways to wrap the ring around the number “1.” An early iteration, where the bottom of the “1” was cut off, unintentionally resembled branding for a golf or putt-putt course. To refine the design, I opted to maintain the full number and adjust the ring’s placement, ensuring a dynamic yet balanced composition that better represented the brand’s strength and energy.



I refined the spacing between the ring and the number one to create a more dynamic and balanced look. Adjusting the form ensured clarity and movement while reinforcing the brand's bold and energetic energy.




Logo Analysis

The logo is slanted forward to symbolize motion and progress.
The extended top of the "T" creates visual balance, reinforcing stability and structure.
The 1TimeThrows logo is designed to capture the intensity and precision of the sport. The custom typography, based on the Apotek font, gives the mark a strong, modern feel,
The circular ring represents both throwing implements—like the shot and discus—spinning through the air, emphasizing the camp’s commitment to helping athletes reach the top of their game.

The wireframing process for 1TimeThrows was all about balancing bold visuals with clear, informative design. I started with low-fidelity wireframes to map out the structure, then refined them into high-fidelity versions that brought the brand to life. This project not only allowed me to bring 1TimeThrows' vision to life, but it also pushed me to explore new approaches and techniques in my design process.
